A Legacy of Excellence: The CDD Heritage

Saint Joseph Montessori Elementary School is built upon a profound educational heritage that began with the Congregation of the Disciples of the Lord (CDD), founded in China in 1927.

When the CDD expanded its mission to Indonesia, Father Joseph Wang was entrusted in 1951 to pioneer a school in Malang. Starting from a courageous step of taking over a damaged former Dutch school building, and having only four students in 1952, the institution has grown remarkably across the decades. The institution, which later solidified its name as Kolese Santo Yusup in 1959, continued to expand its dedication by opening the Blimbing campus in 1974, cementing its role in shaping future generations.

Carrying this noble heritage into the modern era, Kolese Santo Yusup continues to innovate, particularly through a strong commitment to the Montessori philosophy in early childhood education. Driven by a vision to provide a continuous and holistic learning journey, the foundation marked a new historical milestone by establishing the Toddler and Kindergarten programs at Saint Joseph Montessori School, and subsequently founding Saint Joseph Montessori Elementary School in 2025. This expansion ensures that every child can continue their growth in an environment that consistently fosters independence, natural curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning throughout their elementary school years.
